The 'Who Cares?' Postcard Concept
The concept for the 'Who Cares?' postcard campaign came about after Start Caring founder, Hilary Sweeney, became aware of the number of Carers who are struggling and unsupported by the various Care Services.
Many had asked for help, sometimes urgently because their health was compromised. Often they were told that someone would ring back, who didn’t, or that the facilities to provide respite care weren’t available - leaving the Carer to struggle on alone!
Reports into these facts have been written by all the big dementia charities, such as Alzheimer's Society, Dementia UK and Unforgettable, but help and support still isn’t being provided. And it was recently reported in The Independent that more funding would not be available for Social Care until "the forthcoming spending review", in 2020.
Can Carers wait that long? - NO! Their need is NOW! ... And so, with World Alzheimer's Day 2018 fast approaching, NOW is the time to make the powers that be Start Caring!
We are therefore asking every single person whose life has been affected by dementia to send one of our postcards, timed to arrive in the week preceding World Alzheimer's Day on September 21st, to their MP - because they and they alone have the power to speed up the desperately needed funding review!
It is our hope that the impact of these postcards, along with our petition, will make our politicians understand the seriousness and urgency of this issue.
For too long our Carers have been suffering. ... For too long this suffering has been ignored, this needs to change - NOW.
So, do YOU care?
